Scotch means “water of life,” and it’s futile to argue otherwise. This is the finest whisky produced in Scotland, which, of course, provides it its namesake. Scotch whisky can be produced two ways: blended or single malt. Both have their strong points and come rich in flavor, but single malt stands alone. Many people say that the older the scotch the better. That may be true, but not always the case. Finding the perfect bottle of scotch can be a lengthy yet highly enjoyable journey…there are too many incredible bottles to try. Most scotch drinkers will uncover a favorite and stick with it until something better comes along. That bottle of 21-year-old Glenfiddich certainly dazzled, well, until discovering a 16-year old Oban 16…and so on. You see the dilemma.
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is by far the best scotch I’ve personally encountered thus far. From the moment it was uncorked and that sweet oakey aroma escaped the bottle, it was clear something special was about to happen. The bottle’s label describes the flavor as having hints of bitter chocolate offset by a fresh minty note, and port and walnut in the finish. This description fits the bill, but I also detected and enjoyed hints of caramel in the mix. The flavors explode with each delicate sip. This brilliant bottle of scotch also comes with a very reasonable price tag. Whether a seasoned scotch drinker or pouring a first glass, Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban could be your best choice. Remember dear readers, there is nothing better then finding and enjoying the finer things in life. For more, visit glenmorangie.com.
